The Flevoland Archive chooses Atlantis
We are pleased to share that the Historical Flevoland Archive has chosen Atlantis as its collection management system. This marks an important step towards an accessible, digital future. We are proud to contribute to this. We are happy to share the press release from The Flevoland Archive:
The Flevoland Archive (HFA) is taking an important step towards sustainable digital accessibility. As part of the implementation of the e-Depot, HFA has carefully examined how to create a user-friendly and future-proof consultation environment. The goal: one central place where officials, citizens, and researchers can easily access both the e-Depot and the collection management system.
After a thorough financial and functional analysis, we have chosen the solution from DEVENTit: the collection management system Atlantis in combination with their consultation/public environment. This choice perfectly aligns with our ambition to ensure digital sustainability and optimize user-friendliness – guided by the 4 basic principles of the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).
With Atlantis, HFA secures an innovative and scalable solution that grows with the future. The implementation and migration take place in the background and do not affect the services provided to participants and citizens.
We look forward to a future where our collections are even more accessible to everyone.
First group of customers approached for transition to Atlantis 7
Behind the scenes, work is underway on the latest version of Atlantis, Atlantis 7. With Atlantis 7, we introduce a completely renewed version of our collection management system and public environment, which responds to the contemporary needs of collection managers and visitors. This new generation has been developed with ease of use, flexibility, and future-proofing in mind. Atlantis 7 combines a user-friendly and modern environment with powerful features for both collection management and public access to collections. This makes it the solution for organizations that want to be ready for the future of digital collection management and access. The rollout of Atlantis 7 will take place in phases, with the functionalities of Atlantis gradually becoming available in Atlantis 7. Now that the first phase is nearly complete, we have begun informing and approaching users to start the transition. This marks the beginning of the rollout of our renewed management environment and public platform, a milestone we have been looking forward to for a long time.
Users of Atlantis do not need to do anything to request this transition. Based on the license composition, it will be determined whether the functions available in Atlantis 7 correspond. In the coming months, subsequent phases will follow, and more organizations will gradually be approached for this transition.
Digital Heritage Friesland Day
In Friesland, work is in full swing on digitally describing and making heritage collections accessible. But how do they ensure that this heritage becomes even more discoverable and experiential? This is the topic of the Digital Heritage Friesland Day on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Tresoar in Leeuwarden.
During the afternoon program, Herre Jan from DEVENTit will speak about developments surrounding Atlantis. Atlantis is being used as a joint collection registration system to digitize the Frisian collection. Digital Heritage Friesland offers all organizations and individuals who want to register, make accessible, or enrich heritage from Northern Netherlands the opportunity to join.
During the presentation, it will be shown how this works in practice: what choices have been made, what advantages this brings, and what developments are coming. This way, participants will get a clear picture of the future of digital collection management with Atlantis.
Additionally, the day offers an inspiring program with lectures and workshops on international collaboration, publication on heritage platforms, and the development of a Frisian regional thesaurus.
Sign up for the Atlantis User Consultation 2025
Users of Atlantis can sign up for the Atlantis User Consultation 2025, which will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 10:00 to 12:45, with registration starting at 09:30. Afterward, there will be a joint lunch and an opportunity to network. Like last year, the consultation can be attended both physically and digitally. The physical meeting will again take place in the sponsor home of football club IJsselmeervogels in Bunschoten-Spakenburg.
Through the registration form in the link below, registration can be submitted. Registration is possible until Friday, October 31, 2025. Those opting for digital participation will receive an invitation later with a link to the online environment.
This year’s consultation will focus on the new version of Atlantis, Atlantis 7. The first group of customers has already been approached for the transition to this modern and user-friendly environment. During the consultation, we will demonstrate Atlantis 7 and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Additionally, the newly formed board of the Atlantis User Group will discuss standardization and Linked Open Data, a topic that is becoming increasingly relevant for collection management and access.
