New heritage website for the municipality of Bunschoten

Heritage Bunschoten is the digital heart of the local history of Bunschoten-Spakenburg where stories and heritage are preserved and shared. This website makes it possible to get to know the rich past of the region in an accessible way through a diverse range of historical photos, documents, and objects. The platform offers image documents from both the municipal archive of Bunschoten and the Historical Association Bunscote, creating a varied and detailed picture of the past. 

In addition, Heritage Bunschoten provides access to archival components and objects that further clarify local history. Whether you are looking for old photos, documents, or physical objects, the platform makes these valuable resources easily accessible to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of the municipality of Bunschoten. The platform thus plays an important role in preserving and making the local heritage of Bunschoten accessible. 

The municipality of Bunschoten has already been using Atlantis for archive and collection management. With this completely new heritage website, the municipality takes another step in sharing the rich history of the region in a user-friendly and pleasant manner. DEVENTit is proud to have realized the website for their ‘own’ municipality.

Handwritten sources equipped with OCR using Transkribus

DEVENTit has implemented a connection between Atlantis and Transkribus in collaboration with Liberas from Ghent. Thanks to this connection, an employee can now collect images of handwritten sources they wish to have transcribed in a workset and send that workset to Transkribus with a single action. This procedure was tested in recent weeks and is now in production. For example, see this handwritten letter. Text recognition has been added here. If you click the “T” in the viewer at the bottom left, the transcription appears over the image. The color of the transcription can be adjusted, as can the font size. The contrast of the transcription relative to the letter can also be adjusted via a slider.

Lars recently graduated from the Commercial Economics program at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences and is excited to start his career with us. Month of Digital Heritage

The Digital Heritage Network is a collaboration in the Netherlands focused on digitizing, connecting, and making cultural heritage accessible. Through collaboration between archives, museums, libraries, and other heritage institutions, the network aims to make digital collections more discoverable and sustainably available to everyone. The Digital Heritage Network is organizing the ‘month of digital heritage’ for the fourth time. In November, various events such as presentations, workshops, and knowledge sessions will be held. These events aim to share insights, news, and developments regarding the digitization of cultural heritage. You are warmly invited to participate in the events.

Sign up for the Atlantis User Consultation

Users of Atlantis can sign up for the Atlantis User Consultation. The next consultation will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 10:00 – 12:30. Doors open at 09:30. The consultation will conclude at 12:30, followed by lunch and an opportunity to network. This consultation can be attended both digitally and physically. The location of the consultation is the sponsor home of football club IJsselmeervogels in Bunschoten-Spakenburg. A unique location located above the main stand next to the historic center of Bunschoten-Spakenburg. The link below opens a form through which registration can be submitted. If you choose to attend the user consultation digitally, an invitation will be sent later with a link to the digital environment. This consultation will particularly focus on the new version of the Atlantis software, Atlantis 7.

During this meeting, we want to give users the opportunity to ask questions and exchange experiences about Atlantis. We encourage everyone to actively participate and contribute to the discussions.
