Dutch Veterans Institute chooses Atlantis

The NLVi manages the Interview Collection of Dutch Veterans with more than 1,700 interviews with veterans from World War II to the present. Their personal stories are a valuable source of information about Dutch military history. Moreover, sharing these stories contributes to recognition and appreciation for veterans. They want to make the interview collection more discoverable and accessible for researchers and other interested parties. Additionally, they aim to store the interviews sustainably and share them as Linked Open Data.

The NLVi has chosen Atlantis for managing and presenting the interviews and collections online. With the new collection management system, they aim to fully utilize the potential of the collection, automate processes, and link collections to other heritage collections. Thus, the NLVi focuses not only on preservation but also on providing an innovative and future-proof way of making the stories available. This way, the stories of veterans will find their rightful place in the collective memory of the Netherlands.

Heritage platform Heritage of Goes launched

On Tuesday, September 10, the new heritage website of the Municipal Archive of Goes was launched: Heritage of Goes. This is a platform where visitors can discover the heritage collections of the municipality of Goes online. The platform was realized at the initiative of the Municipal Archive of Goes. Additionally, Heritage of Goes serves as a point of contact for all organizations in Goes that share the same goal: to manage, preserve, and make cultural heritage (material and immaterial) accessible to a broad audience.

After much preparation, the Heritage of Goes platform has finally been launched. Learn more about monuments in the municipality, search the archives, or browse through old photos of Goes, Kattendijke, Kloetinge, ‘s-Heer Hendrikskinderen, ‘s-Heer Arendskerke/Eindewege, Wilhelminadorp, and Wolphaartsdijk/Oud-Sabbinge in the image bank. Delve into the collection about World War II or be surprised by what you find.

The Municipal Archive of Goes has already been using Atlantis for archive and collection management. With the addition of this Atlantis Heritage website, the Municipal Archive takes another step in sharing the rich history of the region with the public. The new website offers a user-friendly interface that makes it easier for both researchers and interested residents to access historical documents, photos, and objects digitally. The launch of this platform marks a new step in the preservation and accessibility of the heritage of Goes, where technology and history come together to tell the stories of the region.

Sign up for the Atlantis User Consultation

Users of Atlantis can sign up for the Atlantis User Consultation. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 10:00 – 12:30. The meeting will conclude at 12:30 with lunch and an opportunity to network. This meeting can be attended both digitally and physically. The location of the physical meeting is not yet known, as it depends on the number of registrations. It will be a location central in the Netherlands. The link below opens a form through which registration can be submitted. Here you can indicate whether you want to participate physically or digitally. Additionally, you can suggest topics or indicate if you would like to contribute (briefly) via the form. This meeting will particularly focus on the new version of the Atlantis software, Atlantis 7.

During this meeting, we want to provide users with the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences about Atlantis. We encourage everyone to actively participate and contribute to the discussions.
