Heritage website for Arcadis

Arcadis is a leading international company that provides sustainable design, engineering, and consulting services for the natural and built environment. More than 36,000 architects, data analysts, designers, engineers, project planners, and experts in water, environment, mobility, and buildings are all driven by a passion for improving quality of life. The history of Arcadis dates back to 1888. Arcadis originated as the Dutch Heidemaatschappij, a company focused on land reclamation and promoting agricultural productivity in the Dutch heathlands.

Arcadis uses Atlantis Collection Management to manage and present corporate historical collections online. Recently, an Atlantis heritage website was delivered full of content about this rich history and the ability to search collections.

Guide to digitizing heritage collections with a step-by-step plan

The Digital Heritage Network, National Contact Museum Consultants, and Consultation Provincial Heritage Institutions have joined forces to create a very informative step-by-step plan for digitizing heritage collections. Our digital world is evolving rapidly, and this is no different for digital cultural heritage. Part of this transformation is Linked Open Data, which enables us to make digital heritage information not only available online but also to connect it with each other. This means that objects and archives are no longer isolated but are part of a much larger, interconnected web.

The step-by-step plan is there to help. Based on the principles of the National Strategy for Digital Heritage, the Guide leads you step by step through the entire process of sustainably preserving, connecting, and presenting the collection. Better said, the Guide helps you make your collection Sustainable, Usable, and Visible.

Webinar: Get to know Atlantis

In this webinar, we will update you in about 45 minutes on the possibilities of Atlantis and discuss the latest developments. Introducing: Jarno Meijer

We are pleased to officially welcome Jarno Meijer as the newest addition to our team at DEVENTit. Jarno will introduce himself as our new internal sales employee.

“I am 22 years old and have been working at DEVENTit B.V. since early February. With experience in sales at both commercial branches and true sales companies, I have the opportunity to speak with you and get to know you better. I will primarily focus on marketing, communication, and relationship management within the organization. I hope to learn a lot and help our users achieve a smooth and pleasant collaboration with Atlantis.”

Connection with e-Depot

To sustainably store digital archives, e-Depot solutions are often used. An e-Depot is a specialized storage application to securely store digital files and metadata. Various digital preservation activities take place to ensure that files remain usable. Atlantis can be connected to such an e-Depot. Thanks to this connection, collections can be placed in the e-Depot through Atlantis. In such a case, the collection is managed in Atlantis, and the metadata can be adjusted via Atlantis. The changes are then sent to the e-Depot.

Conversely, it is also possible for Atlantis to read documents and metadata from an e-Depot to make this information available to staff or the public. Thanks to this approach, a single platform is created for staff and the public where collections from Atlantis and from an e-Depot come together. There are restrictions on public access, with extensive configuration options to determine which items – in what way – are visible. Anonymizing/redacting information is also familiar to Atlantis. Through Atlantis, requests for applications, downloads, and scans can be processed.

Atlantis does not provide an e-Depot itself but can be connected to an e-Depot of your choice. Connections with various providers have already been successfully implemented. An important feature of Atlantis is that files are not copied, so files always remain at the source and are stored there.

New release of Atlantis version 5.23.4.0

Approximately 4 times a year, a new release of Atlantis is issued, featuring new functions, improvements, and bug fixes. Recently, version 5.23.4.0 has been completed and will be rolled out to Atlantis users in the coming weeks. New features include:

• Forced indexing
• Quick search
• Thesaurus tree for crowdsourcing input
• Browsing multimedia records during crowdsourcing input
• More than 10 search rules for advanced searching
• Open in new tab button
• (external) Thesaurus label customizable
